Gustav Weiss was born in Bratislava, Slovakia in 1922. He studied in Vienna at the University of soil sciences, in Freiberg at the University of Metallurgy and in Berlin at the Academy of Art in the department of ceramics. He lectured at the University of Art and Design in Halle. In 1987 he founded the magazine “New Ceramics”. He has written several books about ceramic history, art and techniques and has created a great PC program for calculating glazes. In 2002 he organised the first international video conference call about ceramic topics. He is a member oft the International Academy of Ceramics in Geneva and has a studio in Berlin.
